Task Force Description
The BioEnergy Task Force is a collective consisting of industrial, post secondary and government agencies drawn from the Maritime Provinces and the State of Maine. The core purpose of the task force is to facilitate the funding of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary study by PricewaterhouseCoopers on the potential for bio-energy, bio-chemicals and other bio-products within the region. This robust evaluation will identify the steps required to develop and promote new industry related products and will address issues specific to biomass availability, technology maturity, policy implications and economic impact.
The project consists of four major components.
(1) The PwC study which is the cornerstone from which two other essential activities will develop.
(2) Following the PwC study, a Leaders’ Roundtable consisting of industry, government and sector leadership will be held to target tangible actions in order to move the study findings into meaningful outcomes.
(3) Following the Leaders’ Roundtable, a comprehensive R&D Forum will be hosted by regional post secondary institutions to discuss the gaps that may exist between industrial needs and current R&D within the field.
Available on the "Report" tab is the Atlantica BioEnergy Task Force report.
